On 5 July 2022, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed Decree No. 430, which was made operational at the same time. This decree requires the repatriation of both foreign currency and roubles, for both resident citizens and Russian citizens operating on the foreign market. According to the aforementioned decree, the crediting of sums to foreign current accounts by Russian citizens is prohibited if they originate from dividends on shares in Russian companies or profits from participation as a shareholder in Russian companies or commercial intermediary companies and production cooperatives. With regard to the buying and selling of foreign currency, it is said, that the 0% sale of foreign currency from trade contracts with foreign countries is permitted for residents and, consequently, the repatriation of foreign currency gains has been temporarily abolished.
