Russia wants to make it possible to open Russian bank accounts from abroad. A draft law submitted to the State Duma last Friday provides for the waiver of the mandatory identification of the applicant to the Russian bank. This should allow tourists to apply for a Russian Mir payment card before they travel to Russia. This simplified possibility of opening bank accounts is not intended for business accounts, so foreign companies will still have to open accounts locally, but can rely on the support of agencies to open bank accounts.
