According to the Russian border guard, 7.2 million foreigners visited Russia in the first half of the year. That was 22% more than in the same period last year, but only half as many as before the 2019 pandemic. 188,000 people came as tourists, more than twice as many as a year ago and 90 fewer than in 2019. Among them, Chinese dominated (32,300) , Turks (20,500) and Germans (17,500). Labor migrants accounted for most arrivals, for example from Uzbekistan (1.7 mn, +83% compared to 2022), Kazakhstan (1.4 mn, +42%) and Tajikistan (1.1 mn, +55%).
