While Russia’s trade with the West is falling, its trade with African countries is increasing. From January to August 2023, trading volume totaled $15.5 billion – an increase of 43.5% compared to the same period last year. This emerges from data from the Russian Ministry of Economy, which the RBC news portal evaluated. Russia‘s most important trading partner in Africa is Egypt, followed by Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya.
