The Italian economy continues to regard the Russian market as attractive. That said Vittorio Torrembini, head of the Italian business association GIM Unimpresa in Russia. According to him, there are currently 150 Italian private companies that are members of GIM Unipresa in Russia. Together they turn over almost 6 billion euros a year. 110 of the companies have their own production facilities in Russia. According to Torrembini, the local product range of the Italians includes food such as pasta, cheese or sausages, but also building materials such as cement or tiles as well as pharmaceuticals and chemical products. Despite the pressure from the West, the Italian economy is sticking to the Russian market, emphasized the head of GIM Unimpresa. “Italian companies in Russia have integrated deeply into the local economy over the past three decades, investing billions of euros and opening operations,” he said. “We don’t want to leave this attractive market.”
